Once there was a little scrib. He crawled about this way and that. He was unobtrusive and small. He loved to wander on his merry way and collect little things to eat. He often found many things among the trees and grass that were good for him to feed on, but still he despaired. He lived in constant worry that Ilgo, the gray guar, would step on him one day. So the little scrib became very skilled at sneaking all around his little island and soon he got so good at it that no-one, not even that mean old Ilgo could find him.

Guardians of a Departing Goddess



It is written that the goddess who made her home here for so many ages did depart and forever from that place in the sea. She left behind a part of her essence, kept safe in an artifact of grand design, of moon and star, and secured in the bowels of the ground itself. She summoned into servitude several entities which may or may not dwell among the roots of the island to this day. The tales of two of them are known to me at this time, and I will relate them in the interest of history. First, the mighty magma lord, an elemental of largest size whose fire is said to sear more than flesh and blood. He agreed to serve when he was gifted by the goddess with a wonderous bracer and the head of his former master. It is said that he guards the entrance doors which lead to the artifact aforementioned and also to an alternate plane, the importance of which is not known by this author. Though the island interior is a place of fire, the goddess also brought into servitude several spirits of the watery realms, perhaps in her effort to maintain a balance similar to that found in nature, an ideal which she holds most supreme. The tale goes that she chose several souls who had passed by watery deaths, and bound them to a place which is both fire and water, making malevolent creatures out of them. The goddess perhaps promised that after a certain time, she would bring them once again into the world of the living (to serve as her clerics no doubt.)

The Tale of Issilar

And so it was that the %PCRace %PCName came to us and delivered the Heart of Menya from the hands of Luth-Teth Ashak, a dark god from unknown depths. The battle began fierce as Issilar descended into Menya and did face the great Magma Lord whose fires burned the very armor off of flesh, and then the flesh beneath. The great monster guarded the door to a wondrous crystal cavern that would not give entry to the most noble hero. Fighting through a dark plane of mist, a maze of walls was found. Within these walls dwelled the undead spirits of shipwrecked sailors, their bodies now fortified by the Goddess' magic. Issilar then faced horrible one-eyed servants, apparitions which attacked without mercy. They gave way to the chosen one's might.
Upon delving deeper, %PCName found that there was a deadly mushroom garden whose secret was guarded only by the words of a stone statue. Showing no fear in the face of death, Issilar chose the path of victory and defeated the garden's test. This allowed the wise %PCRace to enter the sacred crystal cavern.
Here Issilar was harried by the crystal guardians of this magnificent place, and found them to be worthy foes, but would not shrink before them, for Issilar knew to press on.
Coming at last to the keep, the hiding-place of the precious Heart of Menya, Issilar ran a guantlet of magical guardians to finally come into the great hold of the gift. There, the dark god busied himself at unravelling the Goddess' spells of protection. Issilar boldly called on this being to cease, but was only attacked for the trouble. So the battle raged with spell and steel until the foul one was banished back to whatever place spawned him, and the most sacred altar lay before Issilar that %PCName may pray in it's holy light. We have learned from Issilar that the great lady is the same Goddess worshipped on the Vvarden-fell. She is known to those peoples and indeed our own knowledge as AZURA. Hail her great name. So ends the tale of Issilar and for a time may all of Menya know peace...
